
HTC, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of smartphones, has finally launched HD2, a Windows 6.5-based mobile handset in the Indian market.
It should be noted HTC HD2 is company’s first Windows phone to pack HTC Sense user interface, which makes the phone much more engaging. HTC Sense UI was first seen on the Android based HTC Hero.
HTC HD2, which feature a large 4.3-inch display (480 X 800 WVGA resolution), comes loaded with 5-megapixel auto focus camera, capacitive touchscreen, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, MP3 & Video Player, FM Radio, Standard Micro-USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0), GPS, and Digital Compass.
In addition, 3G handset comes preloaded with lot of social networking applications, which includes Facebook integration, Sharing photos on Facebook and Twitter, HTC Peep for twittering, and Sharing videos on YouTube. However, its internet-related features include Opera Mobile browser, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
HTC HD2 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that runs at 1 GHz. The handset comes with an internal memory of 448 MB, which can be further expanded to more with the help of microSD card slot.
The handset is powered with a Li-Ion 1230 mAh standard battery, which supports standby time of up to 490 hour on 2G Network and up to 390 hour on 3G network.
HTC HD2 is available at a price range of Rs 36,990 – 39,990.

I worry that this phone runs the old fashioned Windows Mobile 6.5, which is losing market share. What do I do if I sign a 2 year contract, and after a few months Windows Mobile gets discontinued?
I think I will get a phone based on the more modern Android OS.
