American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) jumped over 3.60% to $29.10 after touching a high of 430.19 earlier. American International Group said it will sell its American Life Insurance Co. division to MetLife for around $15.5 billion in cash and stock.

Shares of MET were up over 5% to $40.90.

StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE:SFG) surged 1.57% to $46.56 on high volume. So far this year, the stock has jumped over 16%.

Torchmark Corporation (NYSE:TMK) shares gained over 1% to $50.56.

American National Insurance Company (NASDAQ:ANAT) moved up 2% to $114.35.

National Western Life Insurance Company (NASDAQ:NWLI) surged 4.22% to $182.00.
